Bebington schoolboy secures victories at Thruxton motorsport event
Racing on the 4th May, ‘The Force’ was definitely with Nathan Williams as he continued his impressive motorsport debut by winning both races in the OT Coupe Cup at Thruxton.
Nathan Williams, a sixth form student at Wirral Grammar from Bebington, qualified in first and won both races in the OT Coupe Cup at Thruxton in Hampshire at the weekend. This followed on from his win in his first ever race at Oulton Park at the start of April in round one.
In a close-fought qualifying session, Nathan qualified first by 0.089 seconds out of a strong field of 23 drivers, including previous series winners.
At the start of the first race, Nathan surged away from the field, winning by over five seconds. In the second race, a poor start dropped Nathan down to fifth place by the first corner. His experience of online racing as multiple champion in the PASR series was put to good effect as he worked his way up to the front on a fast circuit with speeds reaching 115mph.
He took the lead with a lap to go but crossed the line in second place by 0.25 seconds, having been knocked off the track on the final chicane. The places were later reversed by the judges and Nathan was awarded first place.
Racing for the family-run Cursley Motorsport team, he now leads the OT Coupe Cup series with three wins.
The Thruxton event was broadcast live on Youtube. The first race can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgsXd51TqeI&t=11102s and the thrilling second race at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgsXd51TqeI&t=19948s.
Nathan is racing to raise awareness for the DKMS Stem Cell Donor Register. The register helps find matches for stem cell transplants for blood cancer patients. Details to register can be found here https://www.dkms.org.uk/register-now.
Nathan’s next race is at Snetterton on 31 May, with the series competing this year at a number of iconic UK race tracks including Brands Hatch and Donington.

Nov 2024 - Fiesta Junior 2025 Scholarship Finalist
Reached the final 6 of the Fiesta Junior Scholarship competition. Taking place over 3 days I reached the final selection. Disappointed to miss out on the final place but I will be competing in the OT Coupe Cup in 2025.

Nov 2024 - Wirral Globe Article
Wirral student on the right track to car racing success
A WIRRAL Grammar Sixth Form student has proven his racing prowess after reaching the final of a prestigious competition
Nathan Williams, 17, of Bebington, made the final of the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Scholarship at Blyton Park race track.
The BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship is the fastest growing UK junior racing series and gives talented young drivers the chance win a prize package worth over £65k.
Competing over three days against a field of 60 hopefuls, including seasoned karting racers and drivers from established motorsport families, Nathan impressed judges with his skills and ultimately secured a place in the final six.
Nathan's journey to the national stage began in the virtual world, where he has already tasted success in winning a number of online sim racing series including PASR Ginetta Juniors and OT Coupe Cup.
This experience clearly translated to the real-world challenge, as he navigated a series of eliminations to reach the final round judged by a panel including British Touring Car drivers and an ITV commentator.
While Nathan didn't secure the ultimate prize of a full year in a Fiesta Junior team his performance earned him valuable funding for future races.
Having recently gained his racing driving license he is now focused on competing in real-world events next year with a confirmed drive in the OT Coupe Cup series with races scheduled across the country including Brands Hatch, Donnington and Oulton Park.
Nathan welcomes any sponsorship opportunities to support his ambitions with more information available from instagram.com/nathan_williams.32
